On February 15, as part of the Hague Winter
Carnival, in subzero temperatures and strong
northwest winds, the Fred LaPann Memorial
Road race was held. Bob Bearer, historian, author, and
friend of Fred LaPann, donated one of his books as a
raffle prize. Bob commented how instrumental Fred was
in his historical studies by taking him on the trails that
Bob was writing about. Despite the cold, finishing
runners stayed around the finish line to check out the
frost on the runners coming in. After the race and
awards, many of the runners attended the breakfast at
the firehouse
